March 16th Blood Drive

First of all, we wanted to thank our family and our friends and supporters for coming out in FULL force for SUCH a big event!!!

The blood drive was a huge success! We had 188 people walk through the door.
Out of that 188 - 141 individuals were able to donate blood that day! WHAT AN AMAZING TURNOUT!!!!

Thank you to EACH and EVERY person who walked through the door that day - whether or not you were able to donate blood or just come and support us, it just meant SO much!

WCAP 980 arrived and did a broadcast during the drive (a special THANK YOU to Sam Poulten for supporting us through each of our events!), the Lowell Sun & Chelmsford Independent were both present as well.....

THANK YOU to the reporters and the photographers who took the time to cover this story!

Senator Kerry arrived during the drive and announced his support and leadership for key legislation needed to help PIDD patients access their lifesaving therapies - we are just so grateful to have support for our patient population!!!! THANK YOU to Senator Kerry and his staff for being so kind to our families and receptive to our needs

It’s amazing to see what a community of people can do when they band together for a special cause - truly it is an amazing thing!

Thank you ALL for your continued support - every single thing you all do is what makes our mission possible!

Blessings,

The Families of Team Hope

October Blood Drive

Hi Everyone!

We just wanted to thank you all for such a great turnout at the blood drive! Every act of kindness - whether it was putting up fliers, donating items for raffle, purchasing raffle tickets, donating your time, forwarding emails, telling friends and family about the drive, or actually getting out to donate today - It meant so much to us to have the support of the community behind us!

We really DO believe that ONE person CAN make a difference.....each person involved helped us - and made a difference and proved us right!

We'd like to recognize some people who have made a great impact on Team Hope -

First of all, we'd like to thank our friends and families - for standing by us, helping us out, and supporting us in all of our endeavors!

We'd like to say a special "Thank You" to Sal's Pizza for sponsoring this drive and being SO wonderful to all of us every step of the way! Your dedication to those in need in your community is amazing!

Thank you to the staff of the Red Cross for working with us and making this possible.

Thank you to Chelmsford Public Schools and the Janitor on duty today for allowing us to do this drive using their facility!

Okay, here are the stats:

The blood drive was from 9-2

People started showing up at 8:45

People were just finishing up at about 3 p.m.

We had 135 people walk through the door and go through the screening process to see if they were eligible to donate blood.

Towards the end, there were just SO many people that we had to turn away 18 potential donors because the Red Cross was running out of supplies!!!!

All in all, we had 115 usable pints!!!!!

It was a TOTALLY amazing turnout!

If you do the math - every pint of blood donated can help up to 3 adults or 4 children - so today alone, our donors helped between 345-460 individuals!

What a GREAT feeling that is! I hope our donors are proud of doing such a fantastic thing today!

We appreciate EVERY single person that walked through that door (donors, deferrals and the 18 that were turned away).

We raised $1,535.18 for the Immune Deficiency Foundation with the raffles and we met a lot of really great people today!

The families of Team Hope want to thank 115 of you who waited the 2 hours (on a beautifully warm October Sunday afternoon) to donate (yes, there were SO many people that most donors averaged a 2 hour wait because the Red Cross was not expecting this incredible turnout - and neither were we!!!!!)

Rest assured, our next drive (in March) will have AMPLE staffing and donor beds - so the wait will not be the same as it was for this drive!

Okay, now on to the raffles!

Winners of the Raffle Prizes:

Fruit & Wine Basket----Julie C.
Pamper Yourself Basket---Tammy H.
Gift Card Basket----Donna B.
Bruins Tickets----Jason R.

Sports Basket----Nicholas S.

Congratulations to ALL the winners - we hope you enjoy your goodies!!!!!!

Thank you ALL again for your continued support! You are ALL incredible!

Our total blood donations from all 4 of our drives is 284! Each blood donation has the potential to help up to 3 adults or 4 children - so that means that ALL of our AMAZING supporters and donors have helped change between 852 - 1136 lives!

Put’s it all into perspective, doesn’t it?

Much Gratitude,

The Families of Team Hope

Cut-A-Thon

On August 25th, Cut to the Chase Salon and Day Spa held a Cut-A-Thon Fundraiser for the

 Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF).

Adults and children of all ages came out to support a worthy cause!

We also had 2 Rex Sox tickets that were raffled off!

Each hair cut cost $25.00 with the entire cost going to the IDF.

Individuals who had more than 6 inches of hair to be cut off were also able to donate their hair to Locks of Love as well!

We had a total of 25 hair cuts between 3 hairdressers and that was from 9a-3p!!!!

Between the hair cuts and the Red Sox Raffle Tickets, we raised.....

$2050.00!!!

There were 3 hair donations to locks of love - one of which was a BOY
who did it as part of a community service project through his school
(he was 12 or so)! It was so neat!

Each person who got their hair cut received a large packet with ALL kinds of information about PIDD and then some pamphlets about blood donation as well.

We're very happy to know that at least 25 people walked out of there not only helping with our fund raiser - but with knowledge and information about what PIDD is.

We're SO excited to have had such great results!!!!

AND, the BEST part is...that someone who has dealt with PIDD actually won the raffle tickets!

Thanks again to our friends, family and, most of all - Allison Chase and her staff at
Cut to the Chase Salon and Day Spa for supporting us through all of this!

Blessings,
Team Hope

August Blood Drive

On August 12th, our friends, family and community endured the extremely hot weather and showed full force support for the Immune Deficiency Foundation and our first ever “Team Hope” event (all prior events were for “Team Will and Sasha”

Because it was a Sunday blood drive, the Red Cross told us to expect lower numbers - but we still got out there with TONS of fliers and sent out email fliers - which our devoted Team Hope supporters forwarded to all their friends....we had high hopes....and we were pleasantly pleased with the results!

It was a busy day right from the start!!!

There was never a down moment and we got to meet a lot of really wonderful people within our community.

Here are the stats:

The drive was from 9am-2pm
By 10 a.m. we already had close to 20 people through the door!
We had 76 people walk through the door
10 were deferred for one reason or another (either their iron counts were too low or they had been out of the country or something to that effect).
3 units just didn't quite fill the bag

We had 63 total usable units!!!!!

That's a FANTASTIC number for a Sunday drive!

They say that 1 pint can help between 3 adults/4 children -

so, that's between 189-252 people that were helped by ONE drive!

Our total for the 3 drives so far is 169 pints and we were able to get enough blood to potentially help between 507-676 people in need!

We raised close to 300 dollars for the Immune Deficiency Foundation too as well!

What an amazing day! Not bad for a Lazy Sunday!!!

Thank you again to our family, friends and community! You all are amazing!

Blessings,
Team Hope

3rd and 4th of July

July 3rd and 4th marked our first large scale event as “Team Will and Sasha”

Sponsored by Cut to the Chase Salon and Day Spa, we set up a booth on Chelmsford Common to raise awareness about PIDD.

In the wee hours of July 4th, a group of friends and family (and the staff of Cut to the Chase Salon and Day Spa) prepared (and wrestled with) hundreds of balloons for the well known 4th of July parade.

Our group of dedicated supporters marched in blistering the blistering sun down North Road into Chelmsford Center.

It was SUCH a wonderful feeling to get out there and show the community that, not only does this disease exist....but it exists within the community that they all are a part of.

Here's what happened these past two days....sorta interesting (at least to me!)
By 5 p.m. on the 3rd, we were in full swing...
Our parade event can bring in about 75,000 + viewers so this was HUGE for us.

Of course 75,000 people do not go through the common area where our booth was - that figure is for the parade itself, we do however have a lot of people in the common the night before/day of....and this year was no exception!

Here are the stats:

SO....we had 6 raffle prizes ranging from 95.00-125.00

We had information on PIDD and on Blood Drives.

We sold Bracelets and had T-Shirts for sale.

All items were 5.00

The raffle tickets were 1 for 5.00 and 3 for 10.00

We handed out balloons and had some free frisbees and squeeze balls from Children’s Hospital and some pads of paper and squeeze balls from the Red Cross as well as 2 blood drive sign up sheets.

We also sold water at the end of the parade (1.00 for a 24 ounce bottle...not bad when a lot of vendors were selling them for like 3.00 for a small water!)

We gave out 1,000 business cards SO FAST!!!!
We made a $672.00 in profit from this event which went to the Immune Deficiency Foundation!

What a WONDERFUL way to celebrate our 4th of July!

A SPECIAL Thank You to Allison Chase and her staff at Cut to the Chase Salon and Day Spa and all her friends who came out to support us! What a blessing you all are!

Next year will be even better!!!!

Blessings,
Team Will and Sasha (now known as Team Hope)

June Blood Drive

Greetings to all our friends and family!

First of all, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Chelmsford Fire Department, Local 1839 for not only sponsoring the blood drive but for also coming and donating their time and, for some, their blood! The firefighters never even hesitated when we asked if they would sponsor the event - what an amazing group of people they are!

We are SO happy to report that our 2nd blood drive went off AMAZINGLY!

When we were planning the drive, the Red Cross told us to aim for about 50 usable pints...

We got out there and put the word out – we went to many businesses and put up a couple hundred fliers…and, well - we are happy to report that our community answered the call to come out and donate in full force!

We had a total of 79 usable PINTS!!!

99 people came out to donate
- but 20 of those people were 'deferred' because they didn't meet all the donor criteria.....

How awesome is that…79 pints!!!!!

If you consider the fact that ONE pint of blood can help up to 3 adults or 4 children, that means that
this drive helped between 237 to 316 individuals!!!!

The gift of life is the most precious gift that anyone can give…..

THANK YOU to EACH and EVERY one of our donors for giving that priceless gift!

Blessings,

Team Will and Sasha (now known as Team Hope)

May Blood Drive

On May 5th, we embarked on our Journey of Hope…..Team Will and Sasha (which became Team Hope in August) had their first event….a blood drive through Children’s Hospital’s Bloodmobile.

It was amazing – and never have we felt such satisfaction in doing something so profound!

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the individuals who showed up and donated (or tried to!) for the drive.

To see such kindness was very touching.

It was a beautiful day filled with sunshine and giving!

Out of the 32 scheduled appointments there were only 2 'no shows' and a few cancellations due to illness.

There were also a few who made it out to donate but weren't able to do so because they didn't meet certain criteria set for those giving blood.

There were also a bunch of 'drop-in' appointments too!

Our projected goal was for at least 20 pints to be donated out of the 32 appointments we were allowed to set.

Our final total was 27 usable pints!!!!!

Just in one day, our "team" of supporters helped change the lives of up to 108 children!!!!!!

If that doesn’t feel good, well – I don’t know what does!

Thanks again so much!

Team Will and Sasha (now known as Team Hope)
